Since it seems that planning ideas are jumping threads...
I don't agree with having the planning meeting on Friday. Too many people are not rolling in until later, and I think we need to give as many people as possible the opportunity to jump into the conversation. Sometime on Saturday is traditional, and the optimum amount of people can attend.

We know you like boats! One of the funniest things that happened at Bulltown:
Manny, Leslie, Greg and Tonya in the boat in Bulltown lake see Randy and Steph setting up their rig.
Leslie: "HEY! What are you guys doing?"
Steph: "Setting up. What are you guys doing?"
Greg: "Going for a ride on the boat. How long until you guys are done setting up."
Steph: "We're done." (jumps in boat)

I just couldn't miss this rally, since I am a Penn State alum. GO STATE!!! I was afraid Manny and Leslie wouldn't have enough people to celebrate with after Penn State beats Ohio State. LOL
I will read the rest of the thread now to see what we can bring.

That was our justification for trading in the Jayco and getting the Winnebago. We figured that since the Winnie would be equipped for winter camping, we would be able to use it more often than the Jayco (which was garbage when it got cold). Therefore, the new Winnie would be cheaper in the long run than the Jayco. That just makes sense, and it's what Penn State teaches their business students!
Going up to Punxsutawney to see the 'Hog is a great time! Camp Wolfe is open for business, and only 30 minutes from dahntahn Punxsy. You get up at 2am (or if you're like Manny, you just stay up all night) dress warm, and drive up there. You can park in dahntahn Punxsy and ride a bus to Gobbler's Knob. Take a little flask of Crown Royal to keep you warm and you're good to go! Get some breakfast, go home and take a nap.
February 2nd is a Monday this year, but I'm always game to go see Punsxy Phil!

I have an idea for a rally, rather an idea for something NOT to do for a rally...
I don't think we should camp anywhere more than once/year. I'm not going to pull any punches, but I mean Evergreen. I know it's convenient, and it's a nice campground, and because it's open all year, but I think we can try to find some new places to go and get a bit more creative. If we do a late-year rally there (keep in mind the OSU-PSU game is in NOVEMBER next year), I think we should move the Spring rally to a new campground.
Nobody get offended, now. :) Purely my opinion, but I wanted everyone to know.

Great! Perfect for some winter camping! Enough folks in our group have 3 and 4 season rigs it would be a shame to not use them as intended. It would be kinda like buying a nice airplane to just taxi around the airport. It's time to fly! See ya in January and February! Dan & Lori too!
Just got to figure out how to put enough folks on a guilt trip so we have winter rallies too. :h:)
You'll be seeing us in the winter, too. Manny and I have a goal for 2009: camp in every month. January will be easy because we'll already be in Florida, but February and March, we'll have to see hwo that goes! We aren't wimping out!
Hope for Global Warming... camp all year!

Anyone interested in bringing a few electric skillets to make grilled cheese sandwiches for the potluck Saturday night? I have one and can probably scrape up another one. Grilled cheeses go quickly once they get rolling. Anyone willing to help out?
I can provide the bread/butter (we'll use spray butter for efficiency purposes) and cheese. Just need a few extra skillets and a few extra hands. :)

...coming to the rally. We're on site #22. Will be rolling in on Thursday evening. =)
Jack was pretty close to getting a little sister last night. Was at the mall and went to the pet store, and they had a baby girl American Eskimo there. For the fantastic price of $999! I think I'll stick to getting my dogs at the shelter, thanks.
Manny said, "Meh, for that Jack can remain an only child and we'll go buy a new TV."

Hi Jayberg,
There will be a "potluck" per-se on Friday night, which will be the usual fire-hot dogs-mountain pies-kinda event. Since this rally is so small, we were leaving things kinda open (tends to be how we roll anyway) for people to do what they want, but we still have a few plans. Manny updated the first page to reference a few of the changes that have occurred.
Saturday in the late morning/early afternoon (as everyone knows you can't expect me to get out of bed before 10am), we'll all carpool over to the firetower/scenic overlook (about a 5-10 minute drive). The view is fantastic if you've never seen it before. You can climb to almost the top of the fire tower and and there's a great little path over to a neat rock to look at Cook's Forest.
Since we planned the Rally the Kittanning Firemen's Band (a marching/concert band that Manny plays in) scheduled a concert for Saturday late afternoon. Larry's a fan and a few of the people have expressed interest in driving to the concert (it's about 1.25 hours away). Saturday night we'll do that and stop somewhere as a group on the way home. We'll be carpooling down if you're interested.
That's pretty much the extent to the "plans" of the rally.
Can't wait to meet you!

Manny and I were in Cook's Forest all weekend. Had a great time, the weather was beautiful. Friends of ours who have a permanent site in DeerMeadow's shantytown invited us to go to the lookout tower they have there. You can walk to the top of the tower and see for miles around. It is a nice place to hike and not far from the campground. If anyone's interested, we can drive over there. Great for pictures!

Here's a rough idea of the plan, then:
THURSDAY NIGHT (Manny and I will be arriving roughly 7pm):
Go across the street to Trail's End for dinner ~7:30
FRIDAY (for whoever is around during the day)
11:00 am: carpool to Clarion, PA. Shop at all of the neat little shops. Eat lunch at Capt. Loomis' Hotel (very good, not expensive)Friday evening: cook dinner on the campfire while people who intend to roll in on Friday come in. Wolfes will provide hotdogs, mountain pie fixins, etc. Standard practice applies
SATURDAY
3:00 pm: carpool to Kittanning for KFB Concert (starts at 5pm). Will find somewhere to eat while in Kittanning (or on the way home), TBD.
The concert on Saturday is going to be a really good one, and a great time. I'll think of somewhere neat to stop on the way home for dinner. Then, on Saturday, everyone will have all morning/early afternoon to do what they want to do in Cook's Forest. =)
Of course, this plan is subject to change. Since we're dealing with such a small group, we can be extremely flexible!
